SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 25: Sewa Parv campaign continued with renewed momentum in district Shopian today, as several departments rolled out activities designed to promote awareness, health, sustainable practices, enrollment of people under government schemes, and community service.
The focus remained on reaching out to grassroots communities and encouraging active participation across sectors.
District Sheep Husbandry Office conducted awareness and credit extension programmes, highlighting the establishment of entrepreneurship for breed development in the small ruminants sector under the NLM scheme.
Demonstrations on ultrasonography in livestock and awareness about the KCC scheme for sheep husbandry were also held, enabling farmers to access modern tools and financial assistance.
Health department organized Health and Wellness training sessions at various locations under the theme of Sewa Parv.
Additionally, as part of Swasth Nari Sashakht Pariwar Abhiyaan, screening of patients was carried out at Health & Wellness Centres in Handew, AAM Mohanpora and Nagbal, showcasing balanced diet practices.
Education department held first aid awareness programmes for students across the district schools. A special Health and Wellness cum First Aid Training Workshop was also conducted in collaboration with the Health department at GHSS Shopian, equipping students with essential life-saving skills.
As part of financial inclusion efforts under Sewa Parv, local banks carried out social security scheme enrolments, covering 55 beneficiaries under PM Jan Dhan Yojana (JDY), 16 under Atal Pension Yojana (APY), 442 under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and 95 under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJY) till date under the initiative. These initiatives highlight the ongoing focus on extending welfare benefits to all sections of society.
Agriculture department carried out demonstrations on the safe use of pesticides and chemicals, aligning with today’s Sewa Parv theme of responsible farming practices.
Forest and Soil Conservation department conducted a plantation drive at GMS Devpora, promoting environmental consciousness among school children.
At GDC Shopian, efforts focused on the beautification and upkeep of the campus, including the planting of trees and seasonal flowers, along with maintaining cleanliness of pathways and green areas.
Besides these, other departments also contributed by completing their scheduled activities, adding momentum to the district’s ongoing celebration of Sewa Parv.
