JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 20: The Department of Psychology, Government College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu proudly inaugurated the student-led Psychology Club, Mind Matters Club today in the campus.
The initiative was graced by the presence of the respected Principal, Dr. Ravender K. Tickoo, the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. Romesh Kumar, HOD DIET, Jammu, and the Head of the Department of Psychology, Dr. Probhjot Kour.
The Mind Matters Club is a pioneering step towards creating an open discussion forum where students can exchange ideas, engage in critical dialogue, and explore the practical applications of psychology in everyday life.
The club aims to encourage peer learning, emotional well-being, and a deeper understanding of mental health issues among the student community.
More than 100 students participated in the Interactive session of the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal and faculty members emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting that mental health awareness and support systems for students are the need of the hour. This aligns with the concerns raised by the Supreme Court of India, which has underlined the importance of addressing mental health and psychological well-being in educational institutions.
The Department expressed pride in the enthusiasm and initiative shown by the students, whose efforts and leadership made this club a reality. The inauguration concluded with the hope that the Mind Matters Club will grow into a vibrant platform, enriching student life and contributing positively to the college and society at large.
The event consisted of a formal vote of thanks by Manya Gupta, student of the Department of Psychology
