Jammu: An army soldier posted in cantonment area Army Nogrota dies under mysterious circumstances, police said on Thursday.
Police said that the jawan had suffered injuries a few days back while playing volleyball.
“Army jawan, identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of village Budhpur, district Bhagpat, Uttar Pradesh, died under suspicious circumstances in Nagrota Military Cantonment,” police said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), adding that the cause of death is being ascertained.
“The Army officials had informed us that the soldier was playing volleyball and during this he got hurt. He was taken to the military hospital but his health deteriorated after which he was admitted to the Military Hospital in Nagrota,” said the police, adding that he was later referred to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for special treatment. He died during treatment late at night on Wednesday, police said.
