PULWAMA, MAY 16: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, outreach, sports and enforcement activities were conducted today across district Pulwama to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.
Awareness programmes were organised at Tral-e-Payeen (E), Sangerwani and Chandhara, where participants were sensitised regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of collective efforts in curbing the menace of drugs.
Various activities including awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, plantation drives and padyatras were conducted to encourage collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society.
Meanwhile, SHG members organised awareness and counselling activities at Barsoo Awantipora to educate the local population regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and to strengthen community participation under the campaign.
Furthermore continuing its enforcement measures under the campaign, the Drug Control Department Pulwama conducted a thorough inspection of Mohammadia Nursing Home in Pulwama town.
During the inspection, an on-spot notice was issued for violation related to improper storage of drugs against prescribed norms. Directions were also issued to arrange adequate space for accommodating all medicines under one roof within the hospital premises.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama, organised a series of sports and awareness activities across several educational institutions of the district under the campaign.
In Zone Pulwama, zonal-level tournaments for AAG Girls in Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi were organised at GMS Pulwama. In Zone Tahab, a zonal-level tournament in Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi for U-17 boys was conducted at HS Tahab.
In Zone Pampore, awareness programmes and group discussions were organised under the campaign.
Similarly, Zone Tral organised NMBA awareness programmes at Town Hall Tral and HS Mandoora, besides group discussions at UPS Naibugh and UPS Mandoora. In Zone Shadimarg, a zonal-level AAG Boys Badminton Tournament was conducted at Indoor Stadium Rajpora, while Zone Awantipora organised a zonal-level AAG Boys Table Tennis Tournament at GHSS Dadsara.
Officers and officials of the department along with Heads of Institutions inaugurated the events with pledge ceremonies, where participants pledged to work collectively towards building a drug-free and healthy Pulwama and Jammu & Kashmir.
