SWD, DIPR Shopian conduct awareness programme on drug abuse at Kathohallan

SHOPIAN, JUNE 20: In a bid to curb the rising menace of drug abuse among youth, Social Welfare department (SWD) in collaboration with department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) today organized an impactful awareness programme on drug abuse and its harmful effects at Panchayat Halqa Kathohallan.

The programme aimed to sensitize the gathering about the devastating consequences of substance abuse on health, family and society, witnessed enthusiastic participation of the local population including tribals.
The event was attended by officials from various departments.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner Revenue highlighted the alarming increase in drug addiction cases, especially among the younger generation and emphasized the role of educational institutions and families in early identification and prevention of drug-related issues.

He emphasized to stay away from harmful substances to save precious lives.

DSWO and TSWO made people aware about the benefits of various social welfare schemes of the department and stressed upon gathering to enroll themselves for the same.

On the occasion, Nukkad Natak was presented by Yadgar Theatre Kulgam focusing on the anti-drug message which was well applauded by the audience.

DIPR Shopian reiterated its commitment to supporting anti-drug awareness campaigns and stressed the importance of community-driven initiatives to combat this growing social challenge.
