DODA, NOVEMBER 9: In a significant initiative to address the needs of pensioners, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, the Department of Social Welfare Doda organized Block-wise prosthetic Assessment Camps in collaboration with ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), under the ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons) and RVY (Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana) schemes.

These camps were held across all blocks of the district to ensure that the most vulnerable sections of society receive assistance and support.

The Block-wise assessment camps aimed at evaluating the needs of beneficiaries under various pension schemes were conducted under the expert guidance of Tariq Qazi, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Doda. His leadership ensured a smooth and efficient process, making the camps accessible to a large number of eligible individuals. The initiative was closely supervised by Babu Ram, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Doda/Bhaderwh and Touseef Ahmed Zarger Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Gandoh/Thathri who played a pivotal role in verifying documents and ensuring the accurate assessment of all beneficiaries.

The primary objective of this initiative was to assess the specific needs of elderly and disabled individuals, allowing them to receive customized assistance. Following the thorough verification of documents, beneficiaries will be provided with assistive devices tailored to their requirements, ensuring they can lead a more comfortable and independent life.

Under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), a total of 180 senior citizens were enrolled for free aid and appliances, including 6 at Thathri, 4 at Gandoh, 18 at Bhaderwah, and 152 at HQ Doda. Under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP) scheme, a total of 176 persons with disabilities were enrolled for free distribution of aids and appliances, including 26 at Thathri, 26 at Gandoh, 43 at Bhaderwah, and 81 at HQ Doda.

The assessment camps commenced on November 5, 2024, and successfully concluded today, November 9, 2024.
Staff from ALIMCO, along with Staff of the Social Welfare Department, worked tirelessly to assist beneficiaries at every step of the process. Their support was instrumental in ensuring that the camps ran smoothly and efficiently.

The camps saw enthusiastic participation from beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive necessary support close to their homes.

The Social Welfare Department is committed to ensuring that no eligible individual is left behind and that all deserving citizens receive the benefits they need.

This initiative is part of the district administration’s ongoing efforts under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Doda Sh. Harvinder Singh, IAS, to reach out to marginalized and differently-abled sections of the population, ensuring they are recognized and provided with necessary resources to improve their quality of life.

The District Social Welfare Officer Doda Tariq Qazi has reiterated his commitment to providing all necessary assistance and support to the elderly, persons with Disabilities, assuring that their welfare remains a top priority.
