SRINAGAR, JUNE 18: Social Welfare Department (SWD)- SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar, organized an awareness camp on women’s legal entitlements, including legal aid and legal counsel, at Anganwadi Zone Lal Bazar, Srinagar today.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness among women regarding their legal rights and the various support mechanisms available to them for accessing justice. A large number of women from the area participated in the camp and actively engaged in the interactive sessions.
Officials from SANKALP-HEW Srinagar highlighted the importance of legal awareness and informed participants about free legal aid services, legal counseling facilities, women’s rights under various laws, protection against domestic violence, inheritance rights, and other welfare measures available through government agencies.
The participants were encouraged to seek legal assistance whenever required and were educated about the procedures for availing free legal aid through the concerned authorities.
The officials emphasized that legal empowerment is essential for ensuring gender equality and enabling women to make informed decisions about their lives and well-being.
Officials of SANKALP-HEW Srinagar reiterated their commitment to promoting awareness and strengthening access to justice for women through regular outreach programmes and awareness campaigns at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants raised various queries related to legal rights and available support services. Informational material was also distributed among the attendees for future reference.
