KISHTWAR, MAY 26: Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar, organized a series of impactful awareness events under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) across various educational institutions and Panchayats in the district.

Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan, the campaign was actively conducted in Panchayats Lohidar B, Jar Paddar, Patnazi A, and Hidyal, where resource persons and field officers addressed the locals, emphasizing the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of community participation in eradicating this social evil.

A significant part of the campaign took place at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sounder, Upper Primary School (UPS) Pochhal, and Government High School (GHS) Bugrana, where students, staff and community members participated in a solemn Anti-Drug Pledge Ceremony. The pledge reaffirmed their collective commitment to saying “No to Drugs” and upholding a lifestyle rooted in health, discipline, and moral responsibility.

Participants engaged in open discussions, awareness sessions and interactive activities aimed at educating youth about the risks associated with drug addiction, methods of prevention, and the support systems available for rehabilitation. Pamphlets and posters bearing the campaign’s slogan “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” were widely distributed, creating both a visual and psychological impact.

The campaign aligns with the nationwide efforts led by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to curb drug abuse under the NMBA framework. Local authorities have pledged to continue such awareness drives, ensuring sustained action at the grassroots level.
