Srinagar, Aug 04 : Security forces on Monday claimed to have unearthed a hidden cave used as a terrorist hideout in Kalaroos area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, recovering a significant cache of arms and war-like stores.

Security officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the three-day joint search operation was carried out by the Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police (JKP), culminating in the recovery on August 4.

The forces, acting on specific intelligence, discovered a concealed stony cave where they recovered 12 Chinese grenades, a Chinese pistol with ammunition, a Kenwood radio set, an Urdu-language IED manual and fire sticks.

Officials described the bust as a major success in foiling a nefarious terror plot aimed at destabilising the region’s peace.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier on July 30, based on specific intelligence input; a joint operation was also launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Chowkibal area of Kupwara.

During the search operation, one terrorist associate was apprehended. Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 17 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades and a large cache of ammunition and other war-like stores from his possession—
