JAMMU, FEBRUARY 28: District Health Society (DHS) Jammu under the supportive supervision of Chief Medical Officer Jammu (Vice-Chairman) Dr. Harbaksh Singh today concluded two day training session for Medical Officers and paramedical staff on National Snakebite Envenoming Prevention & Control Programme (SBPC).
District Jammu is the first District in UT of J&K to organize the Training of Medical Officers and paramedical staff on Snakebite Envenoming Management and Prevention and Control.
The training focused on reducing deaths and disabilities due to Snake Bite before 2030. It consisted of technical sessions, case studies, and hands-on exercises to enhance skills of the Medical Officers & paramedical staff in disease surveillance and management.
Resource Persons were Dr. Shehnaz Choudhary (Medical Officer Epidemiology) and Dr. Isha Kohli (District Program Manager, NHM and District Nodal Officer SBPC).
CMO Dr. Harbaksh Singh highlighted the role of Peripheral Health staff in timely management of Snake bite cases to prevent the occurrence of deaths and reduce disability. He stressed that timely management of Snake Bites can prevent death & disability. He also emphasised that a strong inter-sectoral approach is essential in Snake Bite Envenoming Management. He also discussed the ground level challenges faced by Health workers in implementation of this programme.
Director Health Services Dr. Rakesh Magotra and Dy. Director Schemes Dr. Poonam Sethi also shared their valuable insights regarding implementation of SBPC program in the field with the Participants.
