SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 24: Ahead of the third edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled for October 25, 2026, Vice Chairman (VC), JKLCMA, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, visited key stretches of the Dal Lake shoreline from Dal Gate to Hazratbal, covering Lalit Ghat, SKICC backwaters, Nishat Basin, Habak, etc. to review the progress of cleanliness and upkeep measures undertaken by the Authority.

The Vice Chairman was accompanied by officers and field staff of the Authority during the visit.
During the inspection, the Vice Chairman reviewed the cleanliness measures undertaken along the shoreline and adjoining areas. He expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and appreciated the efforts of the concerned officers and field staff in ensuring that the lakefront areas had been properly cleaned and maintained ahead of the prestigious sporting event.

He emphasized that Dal Lake, one of Srinagar’s most prominent landmarks and a major tourist attraction, should reflect the city’s natural beauty and environmental commitment, particularly during events of national and international significance such as the Kashmir Marathon. He stressed that maintaining the cleanliness of the shoreline and its adjoining areas was essential to providing a pleasant environment for marathon participants, visitors and tourists.

The Vice Chairman directed the concerned teams to sustain the cleanliness achieved along the inspected stretch through regular monitoring and timely intervention to prevent the accumulation of waste and litter. He underscored the importance of continued coordination between the officers and field staff to ensure that the lakefront remains clean and well maintained.

Later, the Vice Chairman visited Pokhribal to review the ongoing cleanliness works and assess the progress achieved by the field teams. He emphasized the need for regular monitoring and proper upkeep of the area, reiterating LCMA’s commitment to maintaining the cleanliness, ecological integrity and aesthetic appeal of Dal Lake and its surrounding areas.
