Visibility improves, sub-zero temperature continues across Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 30: The visibility improved on Saturday after four days of dense fog while the mercury continued to settle below freezing point across the Valley. However, the weatherman here has predicted no significant weather activity till January 04.

A feeble Western Disturbance affected J&K today, resulting in improvement in the visibility today.

As per the local Meteorological department, under the influence of a weak Western Disturbance, the visibility will improve tomorrow as well.

However, the sub-zero temperature continued across all the stations of Kashmir with Pahalgam in South Kashmir recording a low of minus 4.1 degree Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir shivered at minus 2.8 degree Celsius while Qazigund in South Kashmir has recorded a low of minus 2.0 degree Celsius.

Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, has recorded a low of minus 2.5 degree Celsius.

Kupwara in north Kashmir has recorded a low of minus 2.3 degree Celsius while Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.3 degree Celsius.

Moreover, the MeT Director, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that with dry conditions, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy. He added that there is a possibility of slight improvement in visibility tomorrow due to approaching feeble Western Disturbance.

On January 3 & 4, the weather is expected to remain cloudy with possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches. “Overall there is no forecast of any significant weather activity till 4th January,” he said.KNO
