Srinagar, Sep 01: The Standing Committee of Parliament on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports who are on a two day visit to Kashmir Friday said that it will review the entire higher education system of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), one of the members of the standing committee and a Member of Rajya Sabha Vivek Thakur said, “We will review the entire higher education system of Jammu and Kashmir including the central university and state universities.”

Thakur said, “During our visit, we also had a detailed discussion on development of sports infrastructure here.”

The MP told reporters, “I must tell you one thing with confidence about the beautiful work that is happening in Kashmir, especially in the education and sports sector.”

“It is one if the best in the country and I can say that with the assurance that the kind of infrastructure that has been created in the remotest areas of Kashmir was not imaginable a few years back,” Thakur said.

He said that on Friday the standing committee completed a meeting in Srinagar and tomorrow another meeting was scheduled in Gulmarg.

“The members of parliament are here to appreciate the handcraft artisans and we have gave a small token of appreciation to the workers because we are happy to see the skilled craftsmen of Kashmir,” Thakur said.

He said, “We want the artisans to feel encouraged and carry on the legacy I have visited two years back too. I feel the people of Jammu and Kashmir are very happy.”—(KNO)
