UDHAMPUR, APRIL 9: District Administration Udhampur, in collaboration with We Care NGO, organised a workshop on Women Empowerment at Garhi, today.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of Self Help Groups under the JKRLM UMEED scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai was the chief guest. She distributed sewing machines among selected beneficiaries at the conclusion of the program, encouraging them to engage in income-generating activities and contribute to the larger mission of women empowerment.
In her address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that such workshops provide a valuable platform for SHG members to interact, share feedback and suggest improvements to the existing financial support systems. She noted, will aid both the banks and concerned departments in enhancing their services to SHGs.
The workshop primarily focused on cutting and tailoring skills, aimed at fostering self-reliance and economic independence among women. Participants were trained in essential tailoring techniques, equipping them with practical skills to either establish their own ventures or support local community enterprises.
