BANDIPORA, MAY 15: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), block-level felicitation ceremonies were successfully conducted across district Bandipora to honour winners and meritorious participants of the Essay Writing Competition organised under the anti-drug awareness initiative.
The large-scale competition witnessed the participation of nearly 2,000 students from Government and private High and Higher Secondary Schools across the district. Designed to sensitise young minds about the harmful effects of substance abuse, the initiative sought to foster awareness, critical thinking, and social responsibility among students while reinforcing the message of a drug-free society.
To ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based evaluation process, assessment of entries was conducted at respective Block Development Office (BDO) headquarters with the active involvement of Zonal Education Officers and designated evaluators from the Education Department.
During the first phase of the structured three-tier competition, the top three performers from each of the district’s 12 blocks were felicitated with certificates and trophies at special ceremonies organised at block-level offices by the respective Block Development Officers.
Additionally, the top 10 shortlisted entries from each block have qualified for the upcoming Sub-Division level competition.
Officials stated that the competition is being systematically implemented in phased stages at Block, Sub-Division, and District levels under the broader framework of the NMBA campaign in Bandipora. With the successful completion of the block-level round, shortlisted participants will now advance to the next competitive stages.
The district administration reaffirmed its strong commitment to engaging educational institutions, youth, and community stakeholders in sustained awareness and preventive initiatives against substance abuse. Officials emphasised that such interventions form a crucial part of the administration’s comprehensive strategy to strengthen public participation and build a healthier, drug-free Bandipora under the vision of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
