2 day programme on “Computer Skill Enhancement Programme” begins at Judicial Academy

JAMMU, MARCH 01: Under the patronage of Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy), Tashi Rabstan, and guidance of Chairperson and members of Governing Committee for J&K Judicial Academy, a two day programme on “Computer Skill enhancement Programme- Level I & II, Cyber laws & Appreciation & Handling of Digital Evidence and e-Courts (ECT_13_2024; ECT_14_2024; & ECT_16_2024)” for Civil Judges of Jammu province commenced today at J&K Judicial Academy, Janipur, Jammu.

On the first day, Justice Atul Sreedharan, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, conducted the first technical session. He explained about the cyber threats and digital vulnerabilities becoming more prominent saying that it is essential for the judiciary to adopt secure and efficient technological practices. He discussed that the courts are soft targets for cyber attacks and must be secured from potential cyber attacks.

Justice Sreedharan also emphasised on various best practices important for securing the court networks and gave demonstrations that not only enhanced the theoretical knowledge but also provided practical insights into the application of these technological advancements in daily judicial proceedings.

The second technical session of the day was conducted by Anoop Sharma, Registrar Computer(IT), High Court of J&K and Ladakh. He elaborated the significant digital initiatives under the e-Courts project, including Case Information System (CIS), National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), e-Courts Services Portal, Virtual Courts, NSTEP and Digitization of Case Records.

The third technical session was jointly conducted by Rajeev Gupta, Senior System Officer and Faheem Manzoor, System Officer, who focused on the JustIS App, Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), e-Sakshya, e-Summon, e-Courts Fee Payment and Practical Demonstrations of these e-Initiatives. The learned resource persons helped the judicial officers to familiarize themselves with these tools for their day-to-day court functioning.

Director J&K Judicial Academy, Sonia Gupta, conducted the proceedings for the daylong training programme.
All the sessions remained very interactive during which the participants actively participated and shared their experiences, difficulties and also discussed various aspects of the subject topics. They also raised a number of queries which were answered satisfactorily by the resource persons.
