Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad, assisted by DySP (Prob) Naveed Ahmad Qazi & SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Babareshi road intercepted 02 suspicious persons, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the search, 32 grams of Cocaine & 78 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mohd Afsar Khan son of Mohd Muzaffar resident of Pehlipora A/P Binner & Mohd Sadiq Mir son of Mohd Zaman resident of Khamoh Rafiabad. They have been arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody, police said.
Meanwhile, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali, assisted by SHO PS Uri Insp. Imtiyaz Ahmad at a checkpoint established at Gingal-Choolan road intercepted 02 suspicious persons. During search, 105 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Karamat Hussain son of Qurban Ali & Sadam Hussain son of Sadiq Hussain, both residents of Dani Sayidan Uri. They have been arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody, police said.
Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
