Jammu: Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah who arrived here today on his two days visit handed over appointment letters to NoKs of four martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The appointment letters were handed over to Ms Ifra Yaqoob daughter of martyr HC Mohammad Yaqoob Shah, Smt Pooja Devi wife of martyr SgCt Rohit Kumar, Shri Aabid Bashir son of martyr Ct. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh and Shri Mohsin Mushtaq son of martyr Follower Mushtaq Ahmad.
Martyr HC Mohammad Yaqoob Shah a resident of district Kulgam was appointed as Constable in J&K Police in 1992. On 13 August 2014 after performing his duties HC Mohammad Yaqoob was on his way to his coy headquarters Bijbehara Anantnag along with colleagues in a Police gypsy when terrorists attacked them at Galander Pampore Pulwama. In this incident HC Mohammad Yaqoob made supreme sacrifice of his life for the nation leaving behind his old aged parents, wife, minor son and daughter.
Martyr SgCt Rohit Kumar resident of Jagti Nagrota had joined the JK Police department in the year 2011 and had posted in special operation group. On 12 January 2022 a Police party from district Kulgam along with Army on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in village Sehpora Pariwan Kulgam started search and operation. While the civilians were being evacuated, terrorists fired upon the party resulting injuries to three army jawans and SgCt Rohit Kumar, who later succumbed to his injuries. In this encounter one dreaded Pakistani terrorist was eliminated. The martyr left behind mother, Wife, sister and a minor son.
Martyr Constable Bashir Ahmad Sheikh a resident of district Ganderbal has joined the JK Police department in the year 1991. During the intervening night of 29/30 January 2000, terrorists attacked Police party at Rabitar Bridge Ganderbal in which Ct Bashir Ahmad Sheikh has laid down his life leaving behind his wife, minor son and daughter.
Martyr Follower Mushtaq Ahmad a resident of Bandipora was appointed Follower in J&K Police in 1990. On 09 May 1993 terrorists fired upon security forces patrolling party in Bandipora in which Follower Mushtaq Ahmad attained martyrdom. The martyr has left behind old aged parents and one minor son.
Pertinent to mention that Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah during his last visit to J&K in October 2021 visited the house of Martyr Inspector Pervaiz Ahmad Dar in Srinagar and in 2019 Shri Amit Shah handed over appointment letter to the wife of martyr Inspector Arshad Khan.
The Hon’ble Home Minister has lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in restoring peace and in Jammu and Kashmir on numerous occasions and in number of fora.
DGP J&K Shri Dilbag Singh has expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Home Minister Sh Amit Shah for his support to J&K Police and particularly to NoKs of martyrs.
