SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 05: After yesterday’s breach on the Jhelum embankment at Zoonipora, we are witnessing encouraging developments. Early signs of reverse flow have been observed at the breach site (from Zoonipora back into the Jhelum).
This positive trend is further substantiated by the fact that water levels in the inundated villages have significantly receded, while outpouring towards downstream areas has also significantly reduced.
Our relief operations are continuing with a primary focus on restoring basic/essential services to the affected villages particularly safe drinking water and electricity. Restoration works and assessment of damages will follow up.
The District Administration Budgam remains committed to the safety and relief of all the affected communities.
