SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 23: The seventh day of the ongoing Sewa Parv campaign in district Shopian witnessed a series of impactful activities led by multiple departments, blending innovation, community participation, and awareness for a cleaner and healthier society.

District Sheep Husbandry department demonstrated modern sheep husbandry practices conducted at the Sheep Breeding Farm Zawoora, alongside a showcase of scientific sheep rearing techniques and an advanced wool processing unit, reflecting the department’s efforts to promote sustainable livestock management.

As part of the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, Municipal Council Shopian reinforced the ban on Single-Use Plastics (SUP) in marketplaces, sensitized vendors about adopting eco-friendly alternatives such as cloth bags, and carried out door-to-door plastic collection drives, thereby encouraging responsible urban living.

Agriculture department organized Sewa Parv activities at the Hi-Tech Polyhouse in Mini Secretariat Shopian and at Killora, with a focus on promoting sustainable farming. Meanwhile, the Forest department and Forest Protection Force conducted a polythene-free cleanliness drive at Sub-District Hospital Keller to strengthen the district’s commitment towards a cleaner environment.

On the health front, family health and nutrition awareness programmes, along with child health and immunization drives, were held at Ramnagri and Sedow, benefitting scores of people.

RDD mobilized community participation in cleanliness campaigns across Gram Panchayats and distributed educational material to reinforce the message of hygiene and collective responsibility.

Several other departments also carried out their scheduled activities, ensuring wide-scale participation and continuity of the Sewa Parv spirit across the district.
