BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Tuesday chaired the District Level Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD)/NDPS cases review meeting at Mini Secretariat, Bandipora, to review the measures being taken to curb drug abuse and related crimes in the district.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zaffar Hussain Shawl, presented the Action Taken Reports (ATRs) from various line departments. The meeting reviewed in detail the enforcement drives, community sensitization programmes, rehabilitation of affected individuals, and measures undertaken to address vulnerable hotspots across the district.

DC stressed upon all line departments to work in close coordination to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. She directed officers to intensify awareness and outreach programmes, particularly involving youth and students, while ensuring proper rehabilitation measures for victims of drug abuse through community-level interventions.

During the meeting, DySP Bandipora, Lateef Ahmad, gave a detailed briefing about the action taken by District Police, including sealing of properties belonging to drug peddlers, intensification of awareness campaigns, updates on acquittal cases, and the status of Regular Departmental Actions (RDA) initiated against government employees involved in drug abuse.

He further impressed upon officers to adopt a multi-pronged and sustained approach combining enforcement, prevention, and rehabilitation, assuring full support of the district administration in this regard.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora; Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora; Deputy Chief Medical Officer Bandipora; heads of educational institutions (virtually); and other concerned officers.
