SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 15: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir, Srinagar, successfully conducted an Awareness Programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) today among students of Amar Singh College, Srinagar.

The programme, organised on the directions of General Secretary, Rohit Khajuria, aimed to empower the youth with life-saving skills to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies.

The programme was presided over by Honorary Treasurer, IRCS-J&K, G.A. Qureshi who emphasized the critical importance of CPR in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrests.

He highlighted the society’s ongoing mission to promote disaster preparedness and public health education. “Under the guidance of the Indian Red Cross, we are bridging the gap in emergency response training, especially in educational institutions, to build a safer J&K,” he added.

The programme, conducted in collaboration with the Zonal Medical Office, Batamalloo, featured hands-on training and demonstrations led by expert medical professionals.

The doctors imparted essential basics of CPR, including chest compressions, rescue breaths tailored for non-medical participants. Over 30 students actively engaged in practical exercises, fostering confidence in applying these techniques in real-life scenarios.

The event underscores IRCS-J&K’s dedication to community resilience and aligns with national efforts to enhance bystander intervention in cardiac emergencies.
