DODA, OCTOBER 15: In line with the government’s commitment to ensuring citizen-centric governance, a Public outreach camp was held today at Panchayat Chill (Block Assar).

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh presided over the event aimed to facilitate a direct interface between the public and administration for the redressal of public grievances, discuss developmental issues and review the ongoing government schemes.

A large number of locals and students attended the program, with all District and Sectoral Officers present to respond to public demands and provide on-the-spot solutions.

The residents raised numerous demands, seeking road maintenance from Assar to Chill, construction of a pakka pathway to the cremation ground, installation of crash barriers, review of the Chill–Kashi Kundi road survey, replacement of damaged pipelines and restoration of flood-affected structures.

The People also sought establishment of a receiving station in the area to perk up power supply, augmentation of school infrastructure, adequate teaching staff and filling up of medical staff positions in local health centers. Issues related to the JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission), PMGSY roads and compensation for damaged houses and crops were prominently highlighted.

Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh issued on-the-spot directions to concerned departments, instructing XEN PWD (R&B) to immediately start pending road works in the area. The XEN PHE was asked to review ongoing JJM projects and inspect the water reservoir to ensure safe drinking water, while the XEN PDD was asked to replace damaged electric poles and resolve power-related complaints.

The local Tehsildar was instructed to conduct verification of houses damaged due to recent rains, while the XEN PMGSY was told to expedite the clearance of landslide debris and initiate protection work along affected road stretches. The DC also directed the local SDM to regulate auto, e-rickshaw and matador fare.

The DC further emphasized promoting adventure tourism near Trungal Bridge urging for the installation of signage along the highway to highlight its tourism potential. He directed the Education Department to address staff shortage in schools, while the Social Welfare Officer was asked to review pending cases under the Marriage Assistance Scheme.

The ACD was instructed to organize special camps for resolving labour card-related issues. The DC also called upon the CMO to ensure sufficient staff availability at local health centres. He directed the RDD and Education department functionaries to jointly visit schools to assess infrastructure needs. He urged the public to avail benefits of HADP and Kisan Khushal Gaon (KKG) initiatives to enhance livelihood.

The Public outreach camp concluded with a strong assurance from the District Administration to take prompt action on all projected issues and continue such initiatives to strengthen public trust, promote transparency and ensure equitable development across rural areas of the district. The event also featured departmental stalls showcasing various government-sponsored schemes and awareness materials for public benefit.
