KISHTWAR, MARCH 14: To ensure the smooth, peaceful and hassle-free celebrations of the forthcoming festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr, Shab-e-Mehraj, Navratri and Ram Navmi—coordination meetings were today held here under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
Religious heads and representatives from both communities projected issues of public importance, including those related to water supply, electricity, market checking and availability of essential commodities.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner directed the line departments to ensure that necessary arrangements and public facilities are put in place well in advance.
Stressing the importance of communal harmony, he called for close coordination between the Civil and Police Administration to ensure that the religious occasions are observed in a peaceful, organised and festive manner across the district.
The Police Department was directed to ensure adequate deployment of security personnel in the town as well as in sub-divisions and tehsils of the district. The Municipal Committee was directed to conduct special sanitation drives around all religious places and ensure proper cleanliness. The Block Development Officers were also directed to conduct cleanliness and sensitization drives in respective blocks hosting religious congregations.
The Assistant Director, Fire & Emergency Services was directed to keep fire tenders on standby, fully equipped and filled with water, to deal with any emergency situations.
Instructions regarding uninterrupted power, water supply and market checking to prevent overpricing and availability of quality items were issued to the stakeholder departments.
The Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, was directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of ration, LPG cylinders and other essential commodities during the festive period and the holy month.
All Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars were directed to ensure similar arrangements within their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting was attended by SSP Naresh Singh, CEO KDA Kaiser Bhawani, ACR Idrees Lone, SDM Chatroo Nayeem-ur-Rehman, AD FCS & CA Shafqat Ali Keen, CEO Municipal Council Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, ARTO Tasleem Wani, BDO Hqrs Kishtwar Chandan Manhas, ExEn JPDCL Kishtwar Abdul Hamid, Incharge Fire & Emergency Services Kishtwar, besides other officers and representatives from Traffic Police and other concerned departments.
