Doda Adm kick-started 150 Years of Vande Mataram celebrations

DODA, MARCH 23: The District administration Doda today kick-started a special phase of celebrations marking the glorious 150 years of Vande Mataram at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Doda.

The programme commenced with patriotic fervour, highlighting the historic significance of the national song and its role in India’s freedom struggle. A short film on Vande Mataram was also screened on the occasion, inspiring participants and rekindling the spirit of nationalism.

Adding to the patriotic atmosphere, a beautiful and melodious recitation of the national song of India, Vande Mataram, was presented by the students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Doda.

While addressing the gathering, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Krishan Lal paid rich tributes to the martyrs and highlighted that the 150-year celebration of Vande Mataram serves as a reminder of their supreme sacrifices. He called upon participants, especially the youth, to work with dedication, uphold the values of patriotism and contribute towards nation-building. He also stressed the importance of a united effort to eliminate drug abuse and build a healthy society.

ADDC Roshan Lal in his address, also paid homage to the martyrs and highlighted the vital role of students in shaping a strong and progressive nation. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in such programmes and imbibe the spirit of patriotism in their daily lives.

ADC Anil Kumar Thakur, who is also the Nodal Officer for the celebrations informed that the special phase will be observed from March 23 to March 30, 2026. He stated that this phase has been dedicated to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the motherland. He urged all stakeholders to work in coordination to make the programme successful and emphasized the need to collectively eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society.

Among others present were ACR Ashraf Pervez; ACP Mushraf Haff; district officers; officials from the Sports and Education Departments and students from various government and private schools.

Meanwhile, the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Dak Bungalow Bhaderwah. The event witnessed active participation from various educational institutions, including Government Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah, Government Degree College Bhaderwah, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah and Junior Division NCC Bhaderwah.

Students expressed love for the nation through speeches and cultural performances, highlighting the historical significance and enduring legacy of the national song.

Among the dignitaries present were ADC Sunil Kumar Bhutyal along with the BDO, Principals of Boys and Girls schools, LDO, Assistant Engineers from JPDCL and Jal Shakti Department, TSO and other officers and staff members.

On the occasion, ADC directed that all schools and colleges shall observe the celebrations from March 23 to March 30, 2026, ensuring wider participation and awareness among students.
