KISHTWAR, APRIL 01: The district administration Kishtwar has launched a grievances registration portal after completion of digitization of Revenue records to facilitate prompt redressal of issues and maintain Transparency.

The information was given by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma at a press conference held today. He briefed the media about the status of ongoing digitization of revenue records and the objectives behind launching the portal for grievances redressal. “The initiative aims to ensure that government services reach every section of society, particularly those related to revenue records,” he added.

He highlighted that since 2019 the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a major shift towards digitization, with most services—including revenue services, issuance of certificates, supply-related services and licensing—now available online. He informed that the digitization of revenue records is a key step to enable citizens to access their land records from their homes.

“Kishtwar district comprises 156 villages, each with its own Jamabandi record, all of which have now been digitized and uploaded on the portal”, he informed and added “To ensure accuracy and transparency, the digitized records were taken to the villages and read out in public.” He further informed that Registers were maintained in each village to record grievances raised by the public, ensuring community participation in the verification process.

The Deputy Commissioner explained that the grievances received were categorized into non-quasi judicial and quasi-judicial cases. Minor errors such as spelling mistakes or incorrect parentage details were corrected at the Tehsil level, while more complex cases were addressed through proper legal procedures, he informed.

He further stated that the administration has also taken up backlog mutations, including cases related to inheritance, sale and purchase of land pending since 2014 and has worked towards updating them as part of the digitization process.

Announcing the next phase, the Deputy Commissioner said that the digitized records are now ready for public access through the online portal jkzameensudar.jk.gov.in. Citizens can visit the portal to check their records and register grievances online.

He emphasized that the system ensures transparency, as grievances and their redressal can be monitored at multiple administrative levels, ensuring accountability and timely action.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the media to spread awareness about the portal so that people across the district can benefit from the initiative. He added that public offices will assist citizens by providing access to computers and helping them navigate the portal.

He also informed that educated youth and volunteers will be engaged to assist people, especially in rural areas, in checking their records and filing grievances, ensuring inclusive participation in the process.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, he said that revenue records form the backbone of governance, as they are linked to various government services, including loans and welfare schemes. Making these records transparent and error-free is therefore essential.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the public to visit the portal, verify their records, and register grievances, if any, to help the administration deliver efficient and transparent services.

ADC Pawan Kotwal; ACR Idrees lone; SDM Dr. Mohammad Ashraf; Tehsildar Nirbhay Sharma, besides other officers were present on the occasion.
