BUDGAM, APRIL 16: The ongoing 100 days intensive Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in district Budgam continues to gain momentum with a series of impactful awareness and outreach activities conducted across educational institutions and departments, reflecting strong community participation and collective commitment towards a drug-free society.

Educational institutions across the district remained at the forefront for organizing diverse activities to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

At BHSS Ichigam, a plantation drive and a painting competition were organized, where students actively participated and conveyed powerful messages promoting environmental sustainability and a drug-free lifestyle through creative expression.

Similarly, Higher Secondary School Khansahib and GDC Magam organized pledge ceremonies, where students and staff reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug abuse and building a healthier society.
Awareness activities were also conducted at HSS Soibugh, HSS Chadoora, High School Gojithaji, and HSS Khansahib, focusing on educating students about the dangers of substance abuse and encouraging responsible behavior.

In HSS Narbal, a drug awareness marathon was organized, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students and staff. The event aimed to spread awareness through active community engagement and promote the message of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

The District Employment & Counseling Centre Budgam also contributed to the campaign by organizing a film screening on drug de-addiction. The screening highlighted the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug abuse and encouraged participants to adopt a substance-free lifestyle.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, further reinforcing the importance of prevention and rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, the Excise Department conducted an awareness programme at Government Middle School, Village Khandah (Tehsil BK Pora), sensitizing participants about the ill effects of drug abuse, illicit cultivation of narcotic crops, and legal provisions under the NDPS Act.

These activities, conducted under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, underscore the district administration’s multi-pronged approach involving education, awareness, and community participation. The overwhelming response from students, staff, and the general public reflects a growing resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.

The District Administration Budgam reiterates its commitment to continue such initiatives and calls upon all stakeholders to actively participate in building a safe, healthy, and drug-free future for the district.
