RAJOURI, MAY 09: As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, the 2nd National Lok Adalat pertaining to all types of cases was held today at the District Court Complex Rajouri and other courts across the District.
The proceedings were held under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Rajinder Sapru.
Three benches were constituted at the District Court Complex Rajouri for disposal of cases through amicable settlement. The first bench was headed by Principal District & Sessions Judge Rajinder Sapru and assisted by Additional District & Sessions Judge Sudesh Sharma and Advocate Ajay Gupta.
The second bench was headed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Javed Rana, assisted by Tax Inspector Municipal Council Satya Devi and Deputy LADC Somiya Tahira.
The third bench was headed by Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Shama Sharma, assisted by Special Mobile Magistrate Ananta Raina and Additional Deputy Commissioner Pritam Lal Thapa.
Similar benches were constituted at the tehsil level under the supervision of the respective Presiding Officers.
In all, 1189 pre-litigation and post-litigation cases were taken up by the benches, out of which 902 cases were amicably settled. An amount of Rs. 1,54,22,230 was realized as compensation and settlement amount.
Notably, in the court of the Principal District & Sessions Judge and Additional District & Sessions Judge, 42 MACT cases were taken up, out of which 32 cases were settled and compensation amounting to Rs. 1,34,75,812 was awarded to the claimants.
Representatives of banks, advocates from different insurance companies, LADCs, members of the Bar, Para Legal Volunteers, staff members, litigants and a large number of people participated in the National Lok Adalat.
