RAMBAN, MAY 13: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Ramban today conducted a special enforcement drive on the Rajgarh-Shamti route to reinforce compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.

The enforcement drive was carried out by the MVD team in collaboration with local Police under the guidance of SSP Arun Gupta. During the drive, more than 65 vehicles were thoroughly inspected for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.

As many as 21 vehicles were e-challaned for various traffic violations, with the expected penalty amounting to Rs 1.64 lakh. The enforcement team also seized three vehicles, while nine driving licences were recommended for suspension for serious violations.

The major offences detected during the drive included overloading, driving without valid driving licences, non-payment of token tax, expired insurance documents and expired Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC).

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Ramban Varun Bhasin sensitized drivers and transporters to the importance of adhering to traffic norms and maintaining valid vehicle documents. He issued a stern warning against overloading and other violations, stating that strict action including seizure of vehicles, suspension or cancellation of driving licences, registration certificates and route permits would be taken against habitual offenders.

The ARTO also highlighted the importance of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, urging drivers to stay away from substance abuse and ensure responsible driving. He emphasized that drug-free driving is essential for road safety and appealed to all stakeholders to support the campaign for a safer and healthier society.
