JAMMU, JUNE 01: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti today chaired a meeting with HODs and nodal officers at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas to review arrangements and preparations for annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026.
MD JPDCL, DIG JSK Range, DIG Traffic Jammu Zone, Commissioner JMC Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, ADC Jammu, MD JKRTC, Director Tourism, SSP Jammu, SSP Security, SSP Traffic, Director Health, Chief Engineers of executive Agencies, Joint Director Information, RTO Jammu and other officers attended the meeting.
The Divisional Commissioner took stock of the ongoing preparations and works undertaken by different departments to provide a convenient and hassle-free stay to the pilgrims at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas before they depart to Baltal and Pahalgam base camps.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed repair and renovation works targeted to be completed by June 15. He directed stakeholder departments to install additional water coolers, backup generator sets, German hangars and water taps in langar areas. He further called for augmentation of Cloak room facility, sanitation and illumination within the premises, besides ensuring availability of doctors, ambulances and sufficient stock of medicines at the base camp. The accommodation for security personnel was also reviewed.
He also called for preparing a duty roster for officials of line departments who shall remain available at the Yatri Niwas Control Room for providing immediate services, whenever needed.
It was informed that this year the Token Centre for on-spot registration and RFID shall be established at Tawi River Front, relieving the traffic and crowd issues at Railway Station. To facilitate smooth registration, the Divisional Commissioner directed for making adequate arrangements of drinking water, German hangars, barricading for queue management and Toilet facilities at the Tawi River front. He also directed for providing vehicles to ferry the pilgrims between Tawi Riverfront and the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas.

Further directions were issued for installing Display Boards and Signages to guide pilgrims about the direction and distance to the tourist attraction places within and around Jammu City. Provision of hourly Bus service on the identified routes is also being made to facilitate pilgrims wishing to visit tourist spots and go for sightseeing.
The IGP Jammu directed the concerned officers for making proper arrangements for paramilitary companies. He called for seamless coordination between the security forces and administration for timely completion of all the necessary preparations for smooth conduct of SANJY 2026.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner and IGP visited Tawi River Front and Railway Station. The Div Com asked Director Health Services to set up a 5-bed medical facility at Tawi riverfront. He further called for formulating a plan for parking of vehicles bringing the pilgrims. A separate Nodal Officer shall be designated for Tawi River Front Token Centre, he informed.
Directions were also issued for formulating a meticulous traffic regulation plan and beautification of the entire Jammu city to give it a vibrant and festive look during the period of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
