J&K Science Technology & Innovation Council organizes Youth Parliament under NMBA

JAMMU, JULY 03: A Youth Parliament on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was successfully organized today at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women (PSPS GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

The programme was jointly organized by Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKST&IC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and PSPS Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu.

The event served as a sensitization programme for newly admitted students of the 2026 academic session as well as Principals of colleges from across the Jammu Division. The primary objective was to create awareness about the growing menace of drug abuse and to promote the vision of a drug-free India under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The Principal of the College Dr. Kulvinder Kour emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions in building a drug-free society. She urged students to become Brand Ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in their respective colleges and communities by spreading awareness and encouraging healthy, drug-free lifestyles.

Deputy Director Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKST&IC), Department of Science and Technology, Jammu Shruti Khanna highlighted the importance of educational institutions in preventing substance abuse through awareness, education and collective action.

Principals from colleges across the Jammu Division, students from various institutions and faculty members actively participated in the deliberations. The Youth Parliament provided a vibrant platform for young minds to discuss, debate and propose actionable strategies to curb substance abuse within educational institutions and society at large.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to stay away from drugs and to actively spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of a drug-free India.
