RAMBAN, OCTOBER 3: A tourist bus bearing registration number WB 37D 8989, carrying tourists from West Bengal, met with an accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Marog in Ramban district today. The bus was travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu when the accident occurred.
One person died and at least 37 persons sustained injuries in the accident. The injured were immediately evacuated from the accident site and shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment. Four injured were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for specialised treatment.
Soon after receiving information about the accident, the District Administration Ramban swung into action and launched a coordinated rescue operation. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, SSP Arun Gupta, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak and other officers rushed to the hospital and personally monitored the medical care, rescue and evacuation operations.
Personnel from J&K Police, CRPF, Civil QRT Ramban and Civil Administration actively participated in the rescue operation and ensured the safe evacuation of the injured tourists from the accident site.
Meanwhile, a rescue team vehicle also met with an accident in the Marog area, in which nine security personnel, including seven J&K Police personnel and two CRPF personnel, sustained injuries. The injured personnel were also provided medical assistance.
Senior officers subsequently visited District Hospital and supervised the treatment being provided to the injured.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Medical Superintendent to ensure the best possible medical treatment and all necessary healthcare facilities to the injured tourists and security personnel.
The District Administration continued to closely monitor the rescue, evacuation, medical treatment and other arrangements to ensure timely assistance and necessary support to all affected persons.
