DC Ramban reviews progress of RDD works under Capex plan, other schemes

RAMBAN, AUGUST 18: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today reviewed the progress of developmental works undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) under the District Capex Budget 2026-27, CDF and other schemes.

The meeting was attended by CPO Dr Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; ACD Sheraz Chouhan; Executive Engineer PWD Ranjeet Singh; Executive Engineer PWD Banihal Mohammad Iqbal Ganie; Executive Engineer REW Fayaz Ahmed Shaikh; AEE REW Javed Akhter, BDOs and Assistant Engineers.

The meeting was apprised that a total of 2,266 works, including 203 SOS works, have been approved under Rural sector, of which 1,785 have been accorded Administrative Approval, 1,453 tendered, 224 allotted and 203 taken up, while 148 works have been completed. While against the approved funds of ₹3,826.10 lakh, ₹1,912.60 lakh have been released so far.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Department to complete the Accord of Administrative Approval (AAA) for all approved works within the next two days. He further directed to complete tendering of all remaining works by 25th of August, followed by immediate allotment and commencement of execution.

Emphasising effective implementation at the grassroots level, the Deputy Commissioner directed BDOs and field functionaries to identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensure prompt commencement of works and undertake regular field inspections. He stressed strict adherence to prescribed quality standards and close monitoring of physical progress and that action be taken against defaulters.

The DC also reviewed the status of works under VB-G RAM-G, directing the officers to accord focused attention to the identified Panchayats and ensure early commencement of all works with intensified field monitoring and regular worksite visits.

The status of pending Social Audit issues was also reviewed. The concerned officers were directed to take time-bound action for their disposal and ensure compliance with audit observations.

Reviewing the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G), the chair took stock of progress in creation of rural sanitation and solid waste management assets, including Community Sanitary Complexes, Community Compost Pits, Community Soakage Pits and Segregation Sheds. The status of door-to-door waste collection, plastic waste management and other sanitation initiatives was also reviewed.

The DC directed the concerned officers to expand coverage, ensure regular and effective waste collection in all eligible villages, accelerate utilisation of available funds as per guidelines and complete approved works within the stipulated timelines.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised close inter-departmental coordination, timely execution of developmental works, quality implementation, effective monitoring and optimum utilisation of public funds, so that the benefits of government schemes reach the people in a time bound manner.
