JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 22: Extension and Publicity Wing of the Animal Husbandry Department Jammu concluded the four-day long extensive awareness campaign launched in the districts of Udhampur, Kathua and Jammu. The campaign was organized under the instructions of Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and in coordination with Animal Husbandry officials of the respective districts.
A series of awareness camps were organized in remote villages of Bhugterian in Udhampur, Saida and Dhalli in Kathua and Kotli Charkaan in Jammu district. Ex-PRI members, officers and officials of the department besides a large number of farmers including women farmers attended the awareness camps.
Extension officer Dr. Suresh Kumar and his team explained the benefits available under numerous schemes/programs of the Animal Husbandry department. The farmers were urged to avail incentives available under HADP, IDDS and IPDP in the form of impressive subsidies on establishment of Dairy units, Milk Collection, Processing and Transportation/Marketing infrastructure including Refrigerated Milk Vans, Silage bailing and packaging unit, starting new Poultry farms and Hatcheries.
Meanwhile, the subject experts and Veterinary Doctors responded to queries from the farmers’ regarding health related issues of livestock, particularly the recent incidences of Lumpy Skin Disease.
They suggested appropriate treatment, wherever necessary and gave useful tips on proper nutrition, housing and overall care and management of the livestock for improving their productivity.
