Here Comes 56-Inch… Critics Silent

Country is in the safe hands under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and that there will be no compromises on the safety and security of the country

Finally, after over a dozen of rounds of military talks, India and China have begun the process of disengagement from Patrolling Point-15 in the Gogra-Hotsprings area of Eastern Ladakh which is all set to become the first step towards de-escalation and decreasing the tensions in the ties which have been going on since 2020. Time and again China provoked India and despite that, India exercised restraint and preferred to take the path of dialogue and ensured that the matters flagged by India over time are addressed by China. For that, India not only used military talks but also took the path of diplomacy and finally succeeds in ensuring the disengagement in the disputed areas.

The move has come ahead of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan which is scheduled next week where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping are set to meet. Even though there has not been any formal announcement on whether they are going to meet on the sidelines of the summit or not, the disengagement coming ahead of the SCO summit is a sign in itself of India finally being able to get hold of the dragon while pointing to the further possible improvement in the ties, something that will become clear after the heads of both the countries meet.

The joint statement which has come after the 16th round of Military Talks between China and India has made clear that the troops of both countries have begun to disengage in a coordinated and planned way, which, it said, is conducive to peace and tranquillity in the border areas and reached to a new low after the Galwan clashes which brought both the countries to the brink of war. It was the maturity and diplomatic might of India that prevented the events from taking an ugly turn and brought China to the dialogue table while the same culminated with the disengagement of troops. Earlier, it needs to be noted that China wanted only Indian troops to pull back while they wanted to maintain their positions—16the round, however, did the magic and had it all evenly.

The success in the talks with China, resulting in the disengagement of troops, has once again reiterated and stamped the fact that the country is in the safe hands under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and that there will be no compromises on the safety and security of the country, especially on the borders with extra focus on China. The critics have been taking on the Government for its China policy and have been alleging it of having a soft stand towards the dragon despite repeated violations, however, the disengagement now calls for praises to the leadership of PM Modi and should be enough to turn the critics silent. Lastly, the SCO Summit next week is going to be interesting, and potent in catalyzing new changes in the Indo-China relationship. Fingers crossed with more faith and reliance on the leadership and assertiveness of PM Modi.
