Dragon’s Dance in Indian Ocean – Unacceptable

India has developed and transformed in every sphere since the 1962 Sino-India war: it now believes in looking right back into the eyes of the enemy and its forces are ready, equipped with the latest weaponry to defend the sovereignty and interests of their country.

There isn’t going to be any end to the Chinese military misadventures and that is what India has to understand and act accordingly. Even though there has been disengagement of forces after military talks between India and China in eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the guard against the Chinese cannot be lowered because it is not only keeping the land borders active and manned, but the same is true in the sea as well where China has shown its presence, especially in India’s Maritime Domain.

Even the Indian Navy chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar has accepted the fact that China continues to be a formidable challenge to the Indian forces not only on the land but also the sea, especially in the Indian Ocean Region where the Chinese now have normalized their presence while taking cover of the anti-piracy operations. The same should be a warning to India which needs to strengthen further its surveillance in the sea, especially in the region of the Indian Ocean. It is a kind of similar technique that the Chinese used along the LAC where they continued with incursions, testing the patience of India time and again with their military advances.

The fact remains that China wants to prove its dominance in the region and it would have done that already if India wasn’t there which is blocking its expansionist designs. It is also clear that China is trying to become the USSR of the Cold War, but that had to collapse in the end. It is also trying to become the US of the region by showing defence and economic supremacy and that is where it is facing a giant wall in the shape of India, vigil and sharp on any advances.

It was the high-level tension that China wanted with India on the LAC and kept provoking the Indian side to go off track and use force, which India did not, and preferred dialogue to solve the matter. While China has completely failed with its designs on the LAC, it is now trying its hands in the sea where it is destined and bound to fail no matter how equipped the Chinese Navy is. The dragon has been habitual of always upping the ante when it comes to India and the main reason for China maintaining all-weather ties with Pakistan is also India. China, or any other power needs to bear in mind that India has developed and transformed in every sphere since the 1962 Sino-India war: it now believes in looking right back into the eyes of the enemy and its forces are ready, equipped with the latest weaponry to defend the sovereignty and interests of their country.
