Jammu: The Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarships of over Rs 7.46 lakh in favour of 115 wards of serving police personnel.
The police spokesman said the DGP has sanctioned Rs 7200 each in favour of 47 students who have secured more than 90 percent marks while Rs 6000 each was sanctioned in favour of 68 students who have secured 80 percent to 90 percent marks in the Annual Examination of class 12th during the academic session of 2021-22.
“The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund,” the police spokesman said.
He said the Police Headquarters has been sanctioning scholarships, rewards, for wards of martyred and serving/retired Police personnel under different schemes to boost their morale.
“During the current year, scholarships worth Rs 1.54 crore have been sanctioned in favour of 2538 wards of serving, martyrs, retired police personnel and SPOs who have excelled in the annual examinations or to support them to pursue academic education,” he said.
