GDC Vijaypur celebrates World Athletics Day

SAMBA, MAY 07: NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur and Department of Sports and Physical Education celebrated World Athletics Day by organizing a 100 mtrs sprint on the college sports ground.
More than 10 athletes of the college participated in the run with great enthusiasm and fervor. The day is celebrated by the global athletics community to promote the sports activities and the values of participation, unity, peace, and fair play. It’s a day to inspire people of all ages and abilities to get involved in athletics, whether as athletes, coaches, officials, or simply fans.The program was attended by faculty members, college students and NSS volunteers of the college.

Gorav Sharma of semester II secured first position, Adarsh Sharma and ParbMalpotra both of semester II shared second position while Abhishek Sharma and Arfan Ali both of semester II shared third position.
Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta congratulated the winning athletes and appreciated the efforts of the Sports Committee and NSS Unit for organizing such an event. The program was organized with the full support and coordination of the senior faculty members of the college Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) and Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology).

The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education and NSS Coordinator) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO), Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Jan Mohammad Wani (Physical Training Instructor) and Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo (Lecturer Sociology), Dr. Radhika Rasyal (Lecture History), Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer Hindi), Prof Renuka Kundal (Lecturer Political Science).
