DLSA Kupwara holds Under Trial Review Committee meeting

KUPWARA, JULY 18: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara convened an Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting today in view of the Schedule of Quarterly UTRC Meetings-2024 and in adherence to the directives issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and J&K Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA).
The meeting, held at Conference Hall ADR Centre, DLSA Kupwara was aimed at identification and consideration of eligible prisoners for release under UTRC.

The meeting was chaired by Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson DLSA, Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara and was attended by Manzoor Ahmad Khan Sub-Judge/ Secretary DLSA Kupwara; Reyaz Ahmad, Superintendent District Jail, Kupwara; Dr. Mir Ramzan, Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara; Mumtaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kupwara; Syed Jehangir, Ld. Public Prosecutor, Kupwara; Zafar Nawaz, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Handwara, 1st Class Executive Magistrate/ Tehsildar, Handwara, Dy. Superintendent HQ., Kupwara.

As per the NALSA SOPs, the committee reviewed the identified cases of the Under Trials, thoroughly. The Cases of the under-trails falling under the Specified categories were threadbare discussed. Various cases of Prisoners falling under UTRC categories were recommended by the Committee for release.

The meeting concluded with appreciation expressed by Chairperson DLSA Kupwara to all the stakeholders for their proactive participation in addressing the concerns related to under trial prisoners.
