RAMBAN, JULY 31: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary and under the overall supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Ramban, Rahul Gupta, a significant legal awareness program was hosted at Ramban Public High School.

Mission Shakti, in collaboration with the Special Women Cell, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the One Stop Centre (OSC), organized the event, focusing on women-centric legislation and increasing awareness about the Special Women Cell and OSC for women.

The programme was part of the 100-day calendar issued under Mission Shakti, an initiative being implemented across the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir under the directives of Mission Director of Mission Shakti, J&K, Harvinder Kour.

In Ramban District, the program was executed with meticulous planning and coordination by Suneha Thakur and Taslima from the Special Cell for Women, along with Muzaima Banoo, Gender Specialist, and Deepa, a paralegal lawyer. Representatives from the DLSA were also present to lend their expertise and support.

Students and teachers actively participated in the session, showing great enthusiasm and interest in understanding the legal protections and services available to women. The event included discussions on various laws aimed at safeguarding women’s rights, procedures for seeking help from the Special Women Cell, and the comprehensive support provided by the OSC.

The event not only educated the participants about their legal rights but also highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment for women in the community. It aimed to equip women with the necessary knowledge to navigate legal challenges and access support services effectively.

The initiative reflects Mission Shakti’s commitment to fostering a society where women are informed, empowered, and protected. The program is expected to have a lasting impact, encouraging more women to come forward, seek help, and stand up for their rights.
