DODA, OCTOBER 24: In line with the Government of India’s commitment to create a drug-free society, JKSPYM SLCA J&K organized a one-day training program for master volunteers of District Doda as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).

The event, held at the Community Hall, Doda, was hosted in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, and the District Administration Doda.

The event was attended by District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parvaiz Qazi, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Babu Ram and Ex-Counsellor of Nagri Ramesh Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Qazi expressed concern over the rising trend of substance abuse among youth in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the master volunteers to fully benefit from the training and apply the knowledge gained to fight drug addiction in the district. The program commenced with a welcome note, followed by an introduction to JKSPYM and SLCA J&K by Program Director, JKSPYM Pallavi Singh.

Around 55 master volunteers participated in the training, which included four sessions on various aspects of drug de-addiction, such as “Information on Drugs, Drug Use, and its Consequences,” “District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan,” “Intervention Spectrum in Drug Treatment and Prevention,” and “Roles and Responsibilities of Master Volunteers and Nasha Mukt Bharat Leaders.”

Resource persons from SLCA delivered comprehensive presentations, highlighting the growing prevalence of drug use in India.

The training program enhanced participants’ understanding of substance abuse while equipping them with the necessary skills to become advocates for drug prevention in their communities. The program concluded with the distribution of certificates, marking not only the end of the event but the beginning of the volunteers’ journey as agents of change in promoting a drug-free society in Doda.
