POONCH, JULY 23: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a review meeting to assess response, relief and rehabilitation measures following the recent heavy rains and storms that claimed 22 lives across the district.
All District Officers and Heads of Departments attended, presenting department-wise updates on damage assessment, rescue operations, relief distribution, rehabilitation and restoration of essential public services.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that relief has been provided to affected families as per prescribed norms. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has been ensuring uninterrupted distribution of ration to the affected population, while other departments concerned have been addressing public grievances.
Major roads blocked by landslides and debris have been cleared, electricity supply has largely been restored and drinking water supply is being maintained. Rescue and restoration operations were carried out in close coordination among all line departments.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to expedite remaining restoration works, complete damage assessments in a time-bound manner and ensure relief and rehabilitation measures reach every affected family without delay.
