UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 06: Department of Social Welfare, Udhampur on Wednesday organised a one-day awareness camp on the scholarship schemes, pension plans and social welfare initiatives with focus on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme here at Government Degree College Majalta.

The event was held with the objective of informing students about the available financial support systems and social welfare programs aimed at improving their access to education and community development.

Pooja Jamwal, Gender Specialist, Sankalp HEW Mission Shakti and Raghu Patti Dhiman, Craft Assistant, Social Welfare Department, Udhampur shared valuable insights into the Social Welfare Assistance Scheme, pension schemes, scholarships and other welfare programs.

Their presentations highlighted how students can benefit from these programs and how they contribute to empowering marginalized communities, especially women and underprivileged youth. They also urged youth to stay away from drugs and also motivate others for the same.

The College Principal Dr. Shalini Sharma emphasized the importance of such awareness camps in bridging the gap between government schemes and the community. She encouraged students to avail full advantage of the available opportunities for their personal and academic growth.

The event also included the distribution of wrist watches among the meritorious girls under the banner of BBBP and Milton water bottles to boys under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative, a campaign aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle. These tokens were presented as a gesture of recognition for their achievements and to encourage continued efforts towards personal excellence and societal well-being.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dalip Kumar, Head of the Department of Environmental Science at GDC Majalta. He expressed his gratitude to the resource persons, the Social Welfare Department and all the participants for making the event a success.
