Mehbooba Mufti laments erosion of constitutional values on Constitution Day
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

Srinagar, Nov 26, : Former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday lamented the precarious state of India’s largest minority on Constitution Day.

“As we celebrate this momentous day, it’s disheartening to witness the largest minority facing unprecedented threats to their dignity, lives, livelihoods, and places of worship,” she said.

She cited the recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, where four innocent lives were lost. She expressed concern over the ongoing trend of searching for temples under mosques, despite a clear Supreme Court ruling to maintain the status quo on all religious places as they existed in 1947.

Mehbooba Mufti said that this erosion of constitutional values and the rule of law poses a significant threat to the nation’s identity. “Unless we rise up to defend these values, our nation risks losing its unique identity and becoming indistinguishable from its neighbors,” she warned.
