RAJOURI, DECEMBER 12: In response to a suspected food poisoning incident in the remote village of Badhaal, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, accompanied by senior officers, a team of doctors, and experts, visited the area to express condolences to the bereaved families and assess the ground situation.

To determine the cause of the incident, rapid sampling procedures are ongoing, with food and water samples sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The Deputy Commissioner has urged FSL authorities to expedite the results for prompt corrective measures.

Active surveillance will commence tomorrow, ensuring comprehensive tracing of symptoms among the residents. Teams of epidemiology and microbiology experts are being dispatched from Jammu to provide additional support and expertise in handling the situation.

Meanwhile, a control mechanism has been established, and helpline numbers have been disseminated among the public for immediate assistance.

The administration has also launched awareness campaigns to promote hygiene and safety practices to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the district administration to provide necessary resources and support.

While addressing the public, DC Abhishek Sharma expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of children and reassured the community of the administration’s unwavering commitment to their safety and well-being.

“The administration is on high alert, ensuring all possible support for the affected families. I urge residents not to panic and to reach out to the helpline or designated officers for assistance,” he stated.

In addition to visiting Badhaal, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, where the affected patients are being treated. He interacted with the patients and their families, assuring them of the administration’s full support.

The public is encouraged to utilize the helpline numbers shared for any emergencies.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by District Development Council Member Shazia Kouser, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka Dil Mir, Tehsildar Syed Sahil Ali, and other district and sectoral officers.
