BHADERWAH, DECEMBER 14: The Directorate of Horticulture Jammu successfully organized the 1100-KM Mission Horticulture Awareness Programme under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), MIDH, and other schemes of the Jammu and Kashmir Government.

The event, chaired by District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal, aimed to promote horticulture development initiatives across the region. The 12-day awareness mission covered 1100 kilometers in its first phase, highlighting the key horticulture projects and government support schemes in Jammu and Kashmir.

This mission was spearheaded by The Bicycle Man of India in collaboration with the Chief Horticulture Officer Doda. The program’s main objectives included boosting awareness about HADP, encouraging high-density plantations, orchard rejuvenation, and enhancing farm mechanization. Special emphasis was placed on rain-fed area development and the production of designer plants to maximize horticulture outputs. During the event, officials highlighted that HADP is a comprehensive development initiative aimed at increasing farmer incomes and modernizing agricultural practices.

In his address, DDC Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal applauded the efforts of the horticulture department and emphasized the role of sustainable farming and innovative practices in transforming the horticulture sector in the UT. He urged farmers to utilize government schemes and adopt high-density plantation techniques to enhance production and profitability. Officials also underlined the significance of mechanization and automation in improving horticultural productivity.

The program concluded with a call for increased participation from the farming community to achieve the full potential of horticulture development in the region. Various projects such as Farm Mechanization and Automation, Rainfed Area Development, and Designer Plant Production were showcased as key pillars for growth. The event brought together farmers, horticulture officers, and local stakeholders, fostering a renewed focus on sustainable agricultural progress in Doda District.
