Adult BCG Vaccination Campaign launched in Ramban under NTEP

RAMBAN, JANUARY 23: The Health Department Ramban, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, today launched the Adult BCG Vaccination Campaign as part of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). The campaign aims to target specific adult groups to strengthen the fight against tuberculosis and improve public health outcomes in the district.

The main event was organized at District Hospital Ramban, where the campaign was formally inaugurated by MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju. Addressing the gathering, the MLA lauded the initiative and emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare measures in achieving the goal of a TB-free India. He urged eligible individuals to come forward and get vaccinated, highlighting the government’s commitment to eradicating tuberculosis.

The campaign focuses on vaccinating adults meeting the following criteria, with their consent, Adults above 60 years of age, Adults aged 18 to 60 years who fall under any of the following categories, Diabetic patients, Smokers, Individuals with a history of tuberculosis in the last five years, Close contacts of TB patients, Individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) less than 18.

The campaign is expected to cover a significant population in the district, particularly those at higher risk of developing tuberculosis. The CMO, in his message, emphasized the importance of community participation and awareness to make the campaign a success. He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to achieving the national goal of TB elimination by 2025.

The launch event saw the active participation of senior health officials, including Chief Medical Officer Ramban, Kamal Ji Zadu, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Ramban, Vrinder Trishal, and other healthcare professionals.

The Health Department has set up vaccination facilities across the district to ensure maximum coverage. Awareness drives and community engagement activities will also be conducted to educate the public about the benefits of the campaign.
