POONCH, MARCH 07: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today inaugurated the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centre’, a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting circular economy principles and sustainable waste management.

The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, senior officials, NGOs, sanitation workers, and respected members of civil society.

The newly established RRR Centre will serve as a vital hub for the collection, sorting, and distribution of waste materials, encouraging the segregation, reuse, and recycling of discarded household items such as plastics, electronic waste, clothes, and furniture. This initiative is designed to minimize landfill waste and reduce environmental hazards associated with improper waste disposal.

During the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable practices, stating, “The establishment of the RRR Centre is a progressive initiative towards waste management and resource conservation. By adopting sustainable practices, we can reduce environmental pollution, conserve natural resources, and create economic opportunities for waste workers and entrepreneurs involved in recycling industries.”

The Municipal Council of Poonch is committed to empowering citizens to participate actively in this initiative. Plans are underway to launch awareness drives, school campaigns, and door-to-door waste collection programs, further engaging NGOs, local businesses, and educational institutions in waste reduction efforts.

With the successful launch of the RRR Centre, the Municipal Council reaffirms its dedication to creating cleaner cities and promoting sustainable waste management in Poonch. Citizens are encouraged to contribute by donating reusable items, segregating waste, and supporting recycling efforts to ensure the success of this vital initiative.
