Youth Engagement Event Lights up Border Village Glard amid anti-drug campaign

SAMBA APRIL 19: In a remarkable display of community engagement and preventive action against substance abuse, the District Administration Samba, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), organised an electrifying day-night match in the border village of Glard.

The event marked another milestone in the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign), bringing sports as a powerful alternative to drug use.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma inaugurated the well-received sporting event that drew enthusiastic participation from local youth.

“What we’re witnessing today is the transformation of vulnerable border areas into zones of positive engagement,” said DC Sharma while addressing the gathering. “By bringing structured sporting activities to every corner of our district, we’re not just organizing games—we’re building resilience against the drug menace.”

The match is part of an ambitious ongoing sports initiative that has systematically covered villages throughout the district, with special focus on remote border settlements often overlooked in mainstream development programs.

The administration’s approach recognizes sports as both a preventive and rehabilitative tool in combating substance abuse, effectively channeling youthful energy toward healthy competition and community bonding.

The floodlit match created a festive atmosphere in the village that rarely sees such events, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to leaving no corner untouched in its anti-drug campaign.

The “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” in Samba district stands as a model for effective ground-level implementation of national priorities by creating sustainable engagement mechanisms rather than one-time awareness programs.

The sporting event was attended by Assistant Commandant BSF Surjit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Singh along with other senior officials of District Administration.
