REASI, JUNE 16: The Social Welfare Department Reasi, in collaboration with ALIMCO, a central agency, organized a distribution camp for free distribution of Aids & Appliances to Divyangs and senior citizens at Sungri, a far flung area of of Tehsil Mahore.
In the camp, the eligible beneficiaries were provided 24 Wheelchairs, 07 Hand-Propelled Tricycles, 03 Motorized Tricycles, 50 Hearing Aids, Walking sticks, and Crutches by ALIMCO.
The aim of the camp was to distribute free aids and appliances to all the targeted Divyangjans with 40% or more benchmark disability and senior citizens (60 years and above) under ADIP and RVY schemes respectively.
The camp was inaugurated by Member Legislative Assembly Gulabgarg (ST) constituency Er Khursheed Ahmed as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the MLA applauded the efforts of Social Welfare Department Reasi in providing assistance to the needy persons. He appealed the people to come forward to take benefit from such schemes.
District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma said that the scheme is for specially abled persons with a benchmark disability of 40% or more. He informed that such camps shall continue till June 23, 2025 across various locations of district Reasi to provide free aids and appliances to the needy and deserving specially abled persons and senior citizens.
He added that as many as 710 disabled and senior citizens were assessed for free distribution of aids and appliances in Assessment Camps held in April 2025.
SDM Shafqat Majeed Bhat, TSWO and other staff of the Social Welfare Department were also present.
